An impressive Birch

Beautiful big Silver Birch near us. I've been meaning to photograph it for years

An Ash and a Willow

A couple of nice mature trees spotted today.

First an Ash (Fraxinus excelsior) growing on a border between a housing estate and some fields.

Then walking a bit further along there is a very large sprawling Willow. Not sure if its White Willow (Salix alba) or Crack Willow (S.fragilis)

Mixed bag of trees

Had a walk with the dog and spotted a few nice trees. First some nice Norway Maples (Acer platanoides). Its interesting how trees shed leaves at different times, even though they're the same species!

Then a nice straight Alder (Alnus glutinosa), a tree that never really gets into Autumn. Its leaves remain green for as long as they can before suddenly turning a black-brown, then falling.

Also a small group of Birches (Betula), they may or may not be Silver Birch. Hard to tell without getting up close.

An Almost Autumnal trio

Three trees from a walk today that don't look particularly Autumnal.

Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus), Oak (Quercus robur), Monterey Cypress (Cupressus macrocarpa)

Lovely Norway Maple

A beautiful example of Acer platanoides spotted on a walk to the shops. The leaves are colouring up nicely.
