A couple of tall Alders in the village
And a trio of Sycamores near home.
A showcase for trees that I find on my travels.
From a walk to the village.
A Turkey Oak (Quercus cerris) on the village green.
A big but wide Yew
And a Sycamore with developing samaras
It surprises me that I still see trees in my village that I've yet to photograph!Spotted this impressive big Beech in north Cemetery, in full sun. It was fantastic standing underneath it!
Spotted this lovely Poplar today and I was unsure of the species. I found out via Facebook it's European Aspen (Populus tremula)
Young leaves are triangular with pointed tips, but the adult leaves are very different in shape, rounded with ruffled edges.
The petioles are flattened, allowing the leaves to tremble in the breeze, hence the species name.
I expect it to be quite pretty in Autumn when the leaves turn bright yellow; one to go back to!
Some trees seen today while on a walk to the village.
First, a lovely Plane, just coming into leaf.
Then a Sycamore atop a hill.
Further along there were a few Hawthorns, full of blossom.
Near the allotments there is a lovely Hornbeam, with a very tidy form.
Then I saw what is possibly the biggest Whitebeam I've ever seen, all flowers finished.
Finally a big Birch with a wonky lower trunk. Moments later it rained quite heavily!
A trio of trees just beginning to stir.
Hawthorn, Birch and Whitebeam.
(Edit, I originally thought the last tree was a Sycamore, but now its in leaf I can see its actually a Whitebeam!)
